Tour 2 • Fine Wine & Culinary Heritage

Valpolicella, Verona, Soave & Piemonte

From Valpolicella to the legendary Barolo and Barbaresco vineyards of Piemonte, featuring Langhe truffle hunting and 3-star Michelin dining.

Wine tasting in the Langhe hills of Piemonte

From Valpolicella to the Langhe Hills

This journey begins with the original story of my decade here in Italy, anchored by my restaurant Groto de Corgnan. We spend our first four days deeply immersed in Valpolicella, introducing you to the winemakers, cheesemakers, and olive oil millers who have shaped my menus and become part of my life.

Vineyards of Barolo in Piemonte

From here, the journey weaves westward – stopping for exceptional sparkling wines in Franciacorta before entering the legendary wine hills of Piemonte. From private tastings of Barolo and Barbaresco to truffle hunts in the Langhe woods and world-class Michelin dining, this is a seamless insider passage through one of Italy’s most spectacular culinary landscapes.

Barolo vineyards in Piemonte

“Moving from the Valpolicella hills into the misty vineyards of the Langhe, you realise Piemonte isn’t just about fine wine and truffles – it’s about a patient, generations-old reverence for the land.”

— Judy Harman

The 10-Day Journey

Starting in Valpolicella (Verona) before journeying west into the Langhe – Piemonte’s premier wine district. The tour ends in Sinio, Piemonte (transport can be arranged to Torino or Milano).

The itinerary is designed for balance: a more significant dinner means a lighter lunch, or vice versa, so you can truly appreciate every single dining experience. Most days include a 1–2 hour guided walk through villages, hilltops, vineyards, and historic centres – keeping us moving and exploring, and ready for the next amazing meal.

Days 1-2: Valpolicella & Groto de Corgnan

Day 5: Franciacorta and arrival in Piemonte

Drive west to Lombardy for a private Franciacorta tasting at Cà del Bosco and a light lunch. Continue on to Piemonte, checking into the 12th-century Castello di Sinio before enjoying a welcome dinner of local Piemontese cuisine.
